The Edinburgh Silver Surfers were delighted to meet Sonia Last who came along to the ACE IT offices to talk about her work with ‘Work4ME’, a new co-operative that has been set up by people with ME or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The organisation provides assistance and support for those with the condition who feel self-employment is a viable option for a return to work.
The idea was born when founder Shona Sinclair brought together a number of people with the condition who realised that they could work together as a group – sharing a wide set of combined skills while helping each other build self-confidence and self-reliance.
With the help and support of SKS Scotland, the Long Term Conditions Alliance Scotland and Stirling University Business School, the Work4ME initiative was launched in the summer of 2012 and is already championing self-employment opportunities for disabled people across Scotland.
