‘Moose in the Hoose Volunteers win a ‘Get Up and Go’ Award!
There was much to celebrate in early October 2017 as the Moose in the Hoose team headed to the Thomas Morton Hall in Leith. The Hall was the venue for the City of Edinburgh Council’s annual event promoting city-based activities for the over 50’s and launching the 2018 edition of the ‘Get Up & Go’ magazine.
Cleo Jones, Senior Manager from Edinburgh Libraries presented the award which recognised the project’s contribution in the ‘Product and/or Service which makes a difference’ category.
The Get Up and Go magazine is a free guide to what’s on in Edinburgh for the over 50’s. Pick up a copy at the library and other community resource centres.
Inspiring Volunteers Team Award 2017
We are thrilled to share the wonderful news that ACE IT has just won an Inspiring Volunteers Team Award in the annual awards run by Volunteer Edinburgh and promoted as part of Volunteers’ Week in Scotland.
The award is in recognition of our volunteers’ contribution to the service we provide at ACE IT. Without our dedicated team of volunteers we’d struggle to provide the same level of IT training services to such a huge number of older people. We’d like to thank each and every one of them for their amazing support and continued commitment to ACE IT.
Get Up and Go award 2013
On Tuesday 1st October 2013 ACE IT was awarded the Get Up and Go award for Innovation Openings – a business that is striving to open up new opportunities for older people. The award was presented at the launch of the latest Get up and Go guide which is aimed at people aged 50 years and over who live in Edinburgh. It lists activities and opportunities from exercise classes to specialist support groups.
It is the fifth year an award has been made to ACE IT with nominations coming from learners who have benefited from our computer training courses.
We would also like to congratulate our colleagues, Ageing Well, whose award was also picked up by Dianne, one of our ACE IT learners. If you would like to obtain your own copy of this useful guide you can pick up a free copy from your local (Edinburgh wide) library, leisure centre, Council office or medical centre.
