How to use Facebook

Create an Account

Type into your browser and press ‘Enter’ to load.

Click “Create New Account” and enter your details in the pop-up that appears.

Note: Write down your password for safekeeping, you will need this for logging into your account!

You will receive an email from Facebook asking you to confirm your account, and you will need to enter your password to activate your account and login.

Set up your account

This is your News Feed, where new posts will appear from friends, groups
and pages you choose to follow.

Click on your name or icon to open your profile page, in the top left and top right corners.

You have the option to add a profile picture, which can be done by clicking your profile icon and selecting “Add Photo”.

A profile picture will help friends see who you are and add you.

It is extremely important to manage your privacy settings and keep your profile private. If a friend wants to add you, they can request permission and you can choose to accept or decline them.

To manage privacy settings, click on your icon in the top right corner of the screen. A drop down menu will appear, and select “settings and privacy”.

Select “Privacy Checkup” to access your privacy settings and make any changes.

Add friends and family

To look for friends, click on the search bar and type a name.

Scroll through the list of people to find your friend.

When you have found your friend, click their name to see their profile. This will allow you to check if it is the right person.

Then you can click “Add Friend” to send a friend request.

When that person has accepted your request, you can now message
each other. Click on “Message”.

Next, you will see a pop-up window appear where you can type a message.

Type your message and press “Enter” on your keyboard to send.

Now you can chat with your friends and family!
