ACE IT History
ACE IT was established in May 2001 as Age Concern Edinburgh Information Technology, and became a registered charity in its own right in 2005. We became a SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation) in 2018.
Our office has been in various locations in Edinburgh throughout the years:
Orwell Place
Caledonian Crescent
George Street
Hanover Street
Nicolson Square (our current office)
Moose in the Hoose has ran since 2005 as a community outreach project in Edinburgh care homes. ACE IT Moose volunteers helped create the album “The Lost Songs of St Kilda” with care home resident Trevor Morrison, a process which began in 2006. You can read more about this story here.
ACE IT ran the Edinburgh Silver Surfers group from 2003 to 2016.
ACE IT’s branding was overhauled in 2019, where we adopted our current blue and orange triangle marque logo. We also updated our wording to move away from “computer” training, as more and more people were using devices such as tablets and smartphones as opposed to just computers. Here is one of our old logos, which we used from 2011 to 2019.
And this is the logo from 2003 until 2011!
