Remember ACE IT in your will

ACE IT helps hundreds of people every year get to grips with digital devices through our bespoke one-to-one coaching sessions, courses and care home outreach. This became even more crucial following the Covid-19 pandemic, when older people faced increased isolation and digital exclusion.

In order for us to keep providing our valuable services we rely on external funding and donations. One of the ways you can help is by remembering ACE IT Scotland in your will, after providing for your loved ones.

To find out more about leaving a gift in your will, please contact ACE IT manager Iain Couper at manager@aceit.org.uk or by phone on 0131 667 2053.

If you are planning on leaving a gift in your will to ACE IT Scotland, we would love for you to let us know so that we can keep you informed about areas of our work that might interest you.

What difference could your donation make?

Case study: Heather

A woman smiling into the camera

Heather, who is in her late 70s, came to ACE IT in 2011 after purchasing a new laptop. She had worked in the civil service for 30 years, but computers were only introduced at the end of her career. Heather had only been taught what was necessary for her job and had little knowledge of most IT systems. After taking early retirement, she suffered from severe social isolation and her family recommended she ‘get online’.

Heather tried several different computer classes to no avail before a friend suggested ACE IT, who would be able to help her on a one-to-one basis. She had no knowledge or experience with email, Microsoft products or software, so the coach had to start from scratch.

Heather attended sessions every week with her coach and has likely had hundreds of lessons over the last ten years. Her confidence grew and she felt more encouraged to leave her house to come to our sessions. She progressed to the point that she felt confident enough to become a secretary for her local church, and later the Venue/Programmes organiser for a local group. Her knowledge from ACE IT about emails, forms and mailing lists has been invaluable for these roles.

Before ACE IT, Heather had previously given up on computers forever. Now she uses her smartphone and laptop on a regular basis to assist her in everyday tasks.

“ACE IT has saved my life and my sanity”
