Volunteer – One-to-one coach

Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to support people over 50 to improve and advance their digital skills through face to face sessions.   

Specific Tasks

Work closely, one on one, to assist our learners to improve their digital skills. 
Help our learners to fix any digital problems they have. 

Skills and qualities needed

Essential qualities of this role are: 
Patience and understanding. 
Strong people skills. 
Knowledge of working with a computer, smart phone or tablet.  
Enthusiasm for helping others to enjoy the benefits of online services and digital devices. 
A willingness to abide by ACE IT’s policies. 

Commitment

We ask you to commit to 2 hours per week. 
Sessions take place during the day at various locations across Edinburgh and Lothian. 
You will be expected to take part in learning & development activities throughout the year. 

Support and training

A minimum of one session will be spent shadowing one of our experienced tutors before your first coaching session. 
An initial module of basic online security training is required for all our volunteers. 
Any relevant training that may be required will be identified and you will be offered this when necessary. 
All volunteers will have regular supervision to feedback on progress, discuss future development and air any issues.
