One-to-one coaching

Thousands of people over 50 have solved their technology issues at our relaxed and supportive one-to-one sessions, completely free of charge. You will be paired with a supportive volunteer or staff member to work on anything you want or need to do online. Bring your own device, or you can use ACE IT’s equipment to learn too.

We can help you to:

  • get online using the device that is right for you
  • stay safe whilst using your device (using the Learn My Way framework)
  • get in touch with friends, family and community groups online
  • access online services that you need to use: banking, shopping, government agencies, leisure
  • manage your online accounts: email, diaries, documents, spreadsheets, photos

25 Nicolson Square, EH8 9BX – Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays

We run face-to-face appointments at our office in Nicolson Square on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10am and 4pm.

Buses: Our office is served by the “Surgeons’ Hall,” “Nicolson Square” and “Potterow” bus stops, on the following Lothian Buses routes – 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 12, 14, 29, 30, 31, 33, 37, 47, 49 – and on Borders Buses routes 51, X62 and X95.

Trains: The office is a 15 minute walk from Waverley train station.

When you arrive at 25 Nicolson Square:

  • Enter by the red door marked “Epworth Halls”. If the door is locked, please press the buzzer or call the office on 0131 667 2053.
  • Take a seat on the sofas to the right of the entrance, and a friendly staff member or volunteer will come and guide you to your session

Bellfield Community Hub, 16B Bellfield Street, Portobello, EH15 2BP – Tuesdays, 2pm to 4pm,

We run digital skills sessions at Bellfield Community Hub (the former Portobello Old Parish Church) on Tuesday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm. These are ongoing until the end of October 2024!

Buses: Bellfield is served by the “Bellfield Lane” bus stops (located on Portobello High Street) on the following Lothian Buses routes: 19, 26.

“Portobello Town Hall” bus stops are a 10 minute walk away, but are on the following Lothian Buses routes: 12, 21, 49.

Trains: Bellfield is a 20 minute walk from Brunstane railway station

When you arrive at Bellfield:

  • Go through the side gate to the annexe
  • Enter room in annexe through the door below

Heart of Newhaven, 4-6 Main Street, EH6 4HY – Wednesdays, 9:30am to 12pm

We are at the Heart of Newhaven (based at the old Victoria Primary School) every Wednesday morning from 9:30am to 12pm. Drop in and we can help with any digital issues you’re having. There will also be free tea and coffee available.

Buses: The Heart of Newhaven is served by the “Annfield” bus stops on the following Lothian Buses routes: 16, 200.

Tram: The Newhaven tram stop is conveniently located opposite the Heart of Newhaven.

When you arrive at Newhaven:

  • Enter through the main entrance gate
  • Enter the main building through this door
  • Take the first right turn through the door below to take you to the atrium, where somebody will be there to guide you

Space to Be at the Gyle, EH12 9JY – Wednesdays, 2pm to 4pm

We are at the Space to Be at Gyle Shopping Centre (located in the former Burger King in the Food Court) every Wednesday afternoon from 2pm to 4pm.

Buses: The Gyle is served by the “Gyle Centre” bus stops on the following Lothian Buses routes: 12, 21, 22, 36, 400.

Tram: The “Gyle Centre” tram stop is conveniently located in the carpark of the Gyle.

Train: The Gyle is a 10 minute walk from Edinburgh Gateway railway station, and a 15 minute walk from South Gyle railway station.

When you arrive at the Gyle:

  • If entering through the main entrance, take the stairs below up to the first floor. If you need a lift or escalator, these are located beside the customer service desk
  • At the top of the stairs, to your left, you will see the entrance to the Space to Be. This used to be the old Burger King!
  • You will see the ACE IT seated area within the Space to Be

Gilmerton Community Centre, 4 Drum Street, EH17 8QG – Thursdays, 2-4pm

We run sessions at Gilmerton Community Centre on Thursday afternoons from 2 to 4pm.

Buses: Gilmerton Community Centre is served by the “Gilmerton Crossroads”, “Ferniehill Avenue” and “Newtoft Street” bus stops on the following Lothian Buses routes: 3, 7, 29, X40, 400.

When you arrive at Gilmerton Community Centre:

  • Enter through the main entrance (door with “Cafe Roda” sign above)
  • Turn right through the door marked “Reception”
  • The ACE IT room is through the white door opposite the reception (brown door)!
