Volunteers’ Week takes place this week (1st-7th June 2021). Millions of people across the UK take time to volunteer for local causes, and it is so important to recognise their invaluable contribution to ACE IT Scotland. We couldn’t do what we do without our team of volunteers, so we’ve highlighted some of their stories in two blog posts this week! Today we’re sharing the stories of Andrew, Kay and Prashant.
Andrew Guild – office administration volunteer
Andrew volunteers in order to get out of the house, meet people and help out others. The most rewarding part about volunteering for ACE IT for him has been meeting so many different people. He has been volunteering with ACE IT since October 2018.
Sue Ferguson – IT coaching helpline volunteer and Work Wise Women coach
Sue is a retired Computer Science teacher, and started volunteering for ACE IT in March 2020 as she wanted to continue to share her knowledge of and enthusiasm for IT. As a Work Wise Women coach, she loves to hear when someone has managed to get a new job and can use the skills she helped them acquire on a day-to-day basis, and enjoys building relationships with a wide range of people.
Prashant Gopinathan – IT coaching helpline volunteer
Prashant is one of our newer volunteers, having joined us during the pandemic in February 2021 when he found himself with more spare time and decided to look into volunteering opportunities. The most rewarding thing he finds about volunteering with ACE IT is “when you are explaining a possible solution to someone’s query and they understand how things work – it’s the best feeling.”
